For our client, a specialised software consultancy in the Utrecht region, we are looking for an experienced Java developer who wants to build modern, business-critical applications in varied assignments.

Our client is a specialised software consultancy in the Utrecht region that helps organisations across sectors such as finance, government, logistics and e-commerce with custom Java development. The teams are deliberately kept small and senior, and engineers get a real say in the type of assignment, technology and domain they work in. As a Java developer you work on the design, development and improvement of business-critical applications, either embedded in a client team or on a project delivered with colleagues. What you will do: - Design and build modern back-end services in Java, often with Spring and Kotlin - Contribute to architecture decisions and code quality within the team - Develop and maintain REST APIs, integrations and cloud-native components - Set up and improve automated testing and CI/CD pipelines - Share knowledge through code reviews, tech sessions and internal talks - Coach less experienced developers where appropriate What we ask: - A completed education at bachelor or master level, preferably in computer science or a related field - Several years of hands-on experience in Java development, including modern Java versions - Experience with Spring or a comparable framework; familiarity with Kotlin is a plus - Solid knowledge of SQL, REST, testing practices and CI/CD tooling - Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP is an advantage - Good command of Dutch and English - A professional attitude: you take ownership, communicate clearly and enjoy working with clients What is offered: - A permanent position with a healthy work-life balance and hybrid working options - Varied assignments at renowned organisations in the Netherlands - A personal development budget, conference visits and room to speak at events - A small, senior team where craftsmanship and fun are equally important - Regular team activities such as hackathons, workations and an annual trip - Excellent employment conditions matching your experience Interested?
