For our client, a specialised software consultancy in the Utrecht region, we are looking for an experienced Java developer who wants to build modern, business-critical applications in varied assignments.
Our client is a specialised software consultancy in the Utrecht region that helps organisations across sectors such as finance, government, logistics and e-commerce with custom Java development. The teams are deliberately kept small and senior, and engineers get a real say in the type of assignment, technology and domain they work in. As a Java developer you work on the design, development and improvement of business-critical applications, either embedded in a client team or on a project delivered with colleagues.
What you will do:
- Design and build modern back-end services in Java, often with Spring and Kotlin
- Contribute to architecture decisions and code quality within the team
- Develop and maintain REST APIs, integrations and cloud-native components
- Set up and improve automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
- Share knowledge through code reviews, tech sessions and internal talks
- Coach less experienced developers where appropriate
What we ask:
- A completed education at bachelor or master level, preferably in computer science or a related field
- Several years of hands-on experience in Java development, including modern Java versions
- Experience with Spring or a comparable framework; familiarity with Kotlin is a plus
- Solid knowledge of SQL, REST, testing practices and CI/CD tooling
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP is an advantage
- Good command of Dutch and English
- A professional attitude: you take ownership, communicate clearly and enjoy working with clients
What is offered:
- A permanent position with a healthy work-life balance and hybrid working options
- Varied assignments at renowned organisations in the Netherlands
- A personal development budget, conference visits and room to speak at events
- A small, senior team where craftsmanship and fun are equally important
- Regular team activities such as hackathons, workations and an annual trip
- Excellent employment conditions matching your experience
