For our client, a high-tech defence organisation in the east of the Netherlands, we are looking for an experienced Java software engineer to build mission critical command and control software for naval vessels.
Our client, a high-tech defence organisation in the east of the Netherlands, develops advanced command and control systems for naval vessels. As a Naval Java Software Engineer you join a multidisciplinary Scrum team that works on one of the largest naval software programmes in Europe. You are involved in the complete development cycle, from concept and design to integration and validation, and your software provides operators on board with the critical information they need during defence operations.
What you will do:
- Design, build and test Java software for a naval command and control system
- Contribute to requirements analysis, architecture and design together with software and system architects
- Take security and safety aspects into account in your own code and that of your team
- Automate builds and tests within a modern continuous integration pipeline
- Participate in integration, validation and product demonstrations with end users
- Work in a self-organizing Scrum team with short iterations and clear ownership
What you bring:
- A completed bachelor or master degree in software engineering, computer science or a comparable field
- At least 5 years of recent, relevant professional experience in Java development
- Experience with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Maven and a Linux development environment
- Knowledge of C++ is a plus, as parts of the system are written in C++
- Good command of English; Dutch is a plus
- Dutch nationality and willingness to undergo a security screening, as you will work in a classified environment
