For our client, a software organisation serving the Dutch public sector, we are looking for a Senior Java Developer who wants to build cloud-native, business-critical applications with real societal impact.
Our client, a software organisation in the south of the Netherlands, develops and manages business-critical applications for the Dutch public sector. The software is used daily by a large number of government organisations and their teams are in the middle of a transition towards cloud-native, automated and AI-driven solutions. As Senior Java Developer you play a key role in that transition: you look beyond the code and help shape architecture, tooling and ways of working.
What you will do:
- Design and build robust backend systems with Java and Spring Boot
- Design microservices and cloud-native solutions, both greenfield and modernisation of existing software
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes
- Work with Azure and private cloud environments
- Contribute to the integration of AI and data solutions in public sector applications
- Influence architectural choices and the technical roadmap
- Coach and mentor team members and raise the technical bar
- Drive automation and standardisation within the development organisation
What you bring:
- At least 5 years of experience as a Java Developer
- Strong Java skills with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Quarkus or Jakarta EE
- Solid DevOps knowledge: Azure, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD
- Experience with APIs and web services, both REST and Soap-based
- Knowledge of production-readiness topics such as observability, security and performance tuning
- Experience with Scrum or other Agile ways of working
- Affinity with test automation and software security
- Affinity with AI and machine learning is a plus
- Experience with an integration platform or API manager is a plus
What is offered:
- A key role in a team that is transitioning to cloud-native and AI-driven development
- Work with direct societal impact for citizens and government organisations
- Hybrid working: a combination of office days in the south of the Netherlands and working from home
- 26 vacation days with the option to purchase extra days and the possibility of a 32-hour work week
- Room for training and certifications, for example in Azure and AI
- A solid package including pension scheme, group insurance and a work-from-home allowance
